i'm trying to make a blanket but need more yarn. the company is red heart - misty color is sage mary 2947. I bought this years ago, but can't find it now does anyone have any ideas where i could find more?

I would try either Michael's, Joann fabric or try going to Red Heart's web site and contact them directly. The problem is that you may not be able to find the right color lot and your color with the old yard and the new yarn will be off. They may have some of that color lot left, depending on how long ago you purchased that yarn. Good Luck!

If you're talking about Salvia (sage) that'll trip you out and make you hallucinate, that stuff is illegal in some states (California could possibly prosecute though it's not illegal) so think about that before you try to have it shipped to ya. You'd have to go online most likely to get it.

Wow your living room sounds a lot like mine! I just bought couches too! I went with an olive green. It is so dark that it almost looks brown. I could not be happier! Ashley furniture is soooo nice. That is what I went with. Almost everyone who sells couches will have this brand.
Reply:IKEA. Traditional decorating would say get something next to sage green on the color wheel, in the same tone, or across the color wheel in the same tone. For a room, go same color, different tone, like a darker sage couch, with lighter sage pillows.

Reply:I also have a sage colored family room and I also like a contemporary,and iam fortunate to work with designers on a weekly baisis so i asked them and here is what happened, I got glass topped coffee table and end tables with legs that matched my dark wood trim, since my carpet is light they worked wonderfully, then most contemporary design is somewhat monochromatic , my couch ,love sear and chair are all of the same fabric which is a beige color with a subtle pattern of color and those colors in the pattern are the sages and the browns of the wood and coffee table legs, but the pattern is so subtle is is not at all distracting ,it is all very monochromatic ,and the contrast in the room(typical to contemporary design) comes from art and acessories ,which are minimal and strategically placed around the room.

Rust and sage are colors of the American southwest. I'd find some beautiful photo books from the library of that part of the country and choose your colors from those. Sage has purple blossoms, and silvery foliage grows near by, with accents of red, flame, etc. I think your best inspiration will be from photos of the Colorado/New Mexico/Utah landscapes. You don't have to do a Western theme room to use that color palette. In general, colors found together in nature are pleasing and relaxing to look at in decor.

What must a person do in order to become a sage and philosopher?
Develop one's capacity for deeper thought, for both. Mere study of philosophy does not make one a philosopher. A philosopher does not require a teacher. Teachers of philosophy pass down the thoughts of another philosopher, but an actual philosopher is an independent thinker.
A sage... my take on this role... to me a sage is a person who out of deep thought, self-knowledge, and intuition; a spiritual guide arises. They have created their own philosophy to be at peace with the many incongruences of life. They are the type of person who may know of other forms of thought but would seldom adopt these ideals.
I have read some philosophies, but have therein learned to philosophize, which in my opinion is a personal and spiritual practice. It is definetly worth doing. Once you leap out into the world community, you may notice some very puzzling challenges to previous spiritual conjectures, things that may have seemed so apparent become fuzzy, doubtful, and troubling; then you are well on the way to try to philosophize about them. Once you figure out a way to explain why, for instance: God exists and famine and injustice exist too, but God is good. You will be on your way to sagacity. A sage should help others to feel better about the pain of life and how to be happy with life. These are my own thoughts, and are free to be dissagreed with, but if you look through my words you will see what I mean: Don't adopt the words, instead, adopt the idea of independent thinking, question your surroundings, and try to see the good in the world. Know that the bad is just less good, do not believe in evil, believe only in less good. I believe that we are the glorious incarnations of the many great facets of God, in order to be most reunited we must become most good. My additional idea is that God has created life and eternity but cannot be overtly involved in the present, or otherwise the distinctions of good and not good will not come to be; Earth and the realm of life is a plane of purification for the spirit of God (us).
I do not encourage this belief, but it is my own, it is my philosophy, and any inspiration which I share with someone with the intent of helping them is ultimately rooted in this vision and thus I am not prone to the usual religious conflicts that mythologies create. I am more at peace with my present beliefs, and not terribly vulnerable to personal attacks on my spirituality.
I have studied and practiced Buddism, Gnosicism, The Craft,
and others including Christianity. I have fallen down to atheism and have recovered from that, now I see God everywhere. A sage helped me on my way. He was a Ghuru which I was fortunate enough to meet. I will say that no one must meet a ghuru or do anything. Live life well and learn to open your awareness. I encourage you to learn the pure discipline of meditation; you must practice to silence your mind, the more you do this, the better your focus and clarity of mind will be afterwords.
I hope you trust my advice but otherwise know there are no shortcuts to anythings worthwhile. Also, there are infinite paths in this life which lead to the same places, and thus there is simply no possible way that one can do as another and arrive at the same result, this only exists in mathematics. So by that know that I am only right for myself, my reality exists in my mind, and my path is less likely to be the path of anyone else.
I would like to further say that a particularly brilliant and detailed post was made by a man above me. I feel like he is particularly wise. My best advice would be listen and do not become discouraged by the path to growth.

I suggest Happy Hiram's answer is way above the best because, in the first place, it is better than it needs to be; second, it is funny and true wisdom tends to be that way; third, it is erudite and forces you seek your own answers.
I was going to suggest that sage and philosopher are different roles. The philosopher loves wisdom, (as the etymnology of the word suggests); the sage IS wisdom.
The chief philosopher in the west is Socrates. I highly recommend Protagoras, which much like Happy Hiram's reply is funny, erudite, and better than it needs to be.

Reply:Well first you need to get up and do some philosophercizing :P. You already are a philosopher, all philosophers really do is ask questions about the essence and nature of life and attempt to find answers for them. Once you have many answers and are renowned for your wisdom you may consider yourself a sage or wise spiritual mentor. I believe there are actually qualifications you can get from philosophy but you would do well to ask a university about such things. Officially though you don't need a qualification to be a philosopher, just think deeply and consider answers for the questions of life. :D

Think about it, and disagree, or agree with what they think.
3. Think about the world , what it means to live, to die, to exist, and what the point of it is. Be the source of your own investigation. Since you're always available to yourself, any line of investigation about yourself (and there can be many) allows you to always make some progress. Consider the basis for what you believe. Why do you believe what you believe? Start from scratch and identify your reasoning.
4. Write down what you think about these subjects, including ideas you think you shouldn't write down (possibly because you think others may think they are stupid). While you may not be arriving at any striking conclusions, you will be exposing your own assumptions to yourself. You will probably marvel at how silly some of your assumptions can be, and in the process you will mature.
5. Re-write your ideas more formally and let others read your work, so you can get others to hear your ideas. A sage... my take on this role... to me a sage is a person who out of deep thought, self-knowledge, and intuition; a spiritual guide arises. They have created their own philosophy to be at peace with the many incongruences of life. They are the type of person who may know of other forms of thought but would seldom adopt these ideals.
I have read some philosophies, but have therein learned to philosophize, which in my opinion is a personal and spiritual practice. It is definetly worth doing. Once you leap out into the world community, you may notice some very puzzling challenges to previous spiritual conjectures, things that may have seemed so apparent become fuzzy, doubtful, and troubling; then you are well on the way to try to philosophize about them. Once you figure out a way to explain why, for instance: God exists and famine and injustice exist too, but God is good. You will be on your way to sagacity. A sage should help others to feel better about the pain of life and how to be happy with life. These are my own thoughts, and are free to be dissagreed with, but if you look through my words you will see what I mean: Don't adopt the words, instead, adopt the idea of independent thinking, question your surroundings, and try to see the good in the world. Know that the bad is just less good, do not believe in evil, believe only in less good. I believe that we are the glorious incarnations of the many great facets of God, in order to be most reunited we must become most good. My additional idea is that God has created life and eternity but cannot be overtly involved in the present, or otherwise the distinctions of good and not good will not come to be; Earth and the realm of life is a plane of purification for the spirit of God (us).
I do not encourage this belief, but it is my own, it is my philosophy, and any inspiration which I share with someone with the intent of helping them is ultimately rooted in this vision and thus I am not prone to the usual religious conflicts that mythologies create. I am more at peace with my present beliefs, and not terribly vulnerable to personal attacks on my spirituality.
I have studied and practiced Buddism, Gnosicism, The Craft,
and others including Christianity. I have fallen down to atheism and have recovered from that, now I see God everywhere. A sage helped me on my way. He was a Ghuru which I was fortunate enough to meet. I will say that no one must meet a ghuru or do anything. Live life well and learn to open your awareness. I encourage you to learn the pure discipline of meditation; you must practice to silence your mind, the more you do this, the better your focus and clarity of mind will be afterwords.
I hope you trust my advice but otherwise know there are no shortcuts to anythings worthwhile. Also, there are infinite paths in this life which lead to the same places, and thus there is simply no possible way that one can do as another and arrive at the same result, this only exists in mathematics. So by that know that I am only right for myself, my reality exists in my mind, and my path is less likely to be the path of anyone else.
I would like to further say that a particularly brilliant and detailed post was made by a man above me. I feel like he is particularly wise. My best advice would be listen and do not become discouraged by the path to growth.

I suggest Happy Hiram's answer is way above the best because, in the first place, it is better than it needs to be; second, it is funny and true wisdom tends to be that way; third, it is erudite and forces you seek your own answers.
I was going to suggest that sage and philosopher are different roles. The philosopher loves wisdom, (as the etymnology of the word suggests); the sage IS wisdom.

Will pineapple sage continue to bloom again, after the red flowers have fallen off ? Do I need to deadhead ?
When I bought the plant it had abundant red flowers. Then they slowly fell off. It seems that there are new buds forming, but I am not sure. Will it bloom again, fall off and then bloom again ?

pretty sure nope- i tried smoking it dried when i was 12 and it was just nasty...course maybe that's cause i was 12. It makes a great soup broth though, and great tea for sore throats. Mint is very good chopped up in salad, in drinks (especially mojitos and juleps), you could pretty much toss it with any veggies. It would also add good flavour to lamb or on desserts as garnish (chocolate stuff). Also makes a great tea- relaxing and good for the digestion.

But they will take most of the summer to grow big.If you just need the seeds you can buy them at grocery stores everywhere. You can also buy dried sage in the spice department of your grocery store.

The sunflower head is going to a tough one this time of year. Here in North Dakota we harvest the heads in late fall. You may be able to find one with seeds at a pet store specializing in birds. I've sold them before to a lady in Bismarck with an apiary but that was years ago. I know there are seed heads in the fields but the birds have eaten the seed. If you want to pay postage I could send you some and you could glue seeds back in LOL. Best I can do RScott

Will a blue-grey go with ecru, antique rose and sage green?
I have an ecru eyelet lace bedspread, and antique rose drapes. I want to add accents of sage green, and a blue-grey. Will this be too many colors? If not, can I paint the walls blue-grey? Or would the sage green be better on the walls, with the blue-grey used as throw pillows on the bed?

Go with the sage green. I am really a shabby chic decorater, and I have found that slate blue looks great for accents, but it is overall too depressing for walls. I painted my walls a colour called "sage green tea". I also have rose drapery, and a very nice handmade quilt with blues, greens, etc. Stick with the slate blue for accents, and it will make the room feel not too "frilly" and "girly". Another plus about the green is that light bounces easier off light colours, so it will make the space seem brighter and cleaner.
Reply:I would go with sage on the walls. I just painted over a room that was blue gray because it was SO DEPRESSING!!! Use it as an accent, but I don't receommend it for the walls.
Reply:Skip the blue-grey. The sage and rose will look good together, and the ecru will lighten the room and give the eye a place to rest. Sage on the walls, definitely. You can add more colors, but you need to vary the depth of color. Blue-grey, sage, and antique rose are all very similar DEPTH. To determine depth, get a piece of clear red plastic and put the colors side by side. Cover with the red plastic - you'll see that they all look pretty much the same.
Go with another color that is either much lighter or much darker. A dark plum would look good - contrasts with the green, compliments the rose. Try to find a print fabric that incorporate several of the colors - use in a pillow or curtains.

I painted my walls a colour called "sage green tea". I also have rose drapery, and a very nice handmade quilt with blues, greens, etc. Stick with the slate blue for accents, and it will make the room feel not too "frilly" and "girly". Another plus about the green is that light bounces easier off light colours, so it will make the space seem brighter and cleaner.
Reply:I would go with sage on the walls. I just painted over a room that was blue gray because it was SO DEPRESSING!!! Use it as an accent, but I don't receommend it for the walls.
Reply:Skip the blue-grey. The sage and rose will look good together, and the ecru will lighten the room and give the eye a place to rest. Sage on the walls, definitely. You can add more colors, but you need to vary the depth of color. Blue-grey, sage, and antique rose are all very similar DEPTH. To determine depth, get a piece of clear red plastic and put the colors side by side. Cover with the red plastic - you'll see that they all look pretty much the same.
Go with another color that is either much lighter or much darker. A dark plum would look good - contrasts with the green, compliments the rose. Try to find a print fabric that incorporate several of the colors - use in a pillow or curtains.
I have 3 year old sage green, suede couches that look soiled all over. What is the best way to clean them?
Is this real suede leather? Or suede fabric? Suede fabric should be able to be washed. Do the pillows have zippered covers. I take mine off and wash them once a year. If they are not zippered call Stanley steamers and have them steam cleaned on the sofas. They do a great job.

I will say that I have two inexpensive leather jackets that I love. I checked on having them cleaned and it was going to cost more than they did. But the sofa is much more expensive and would be worth the investment.

What is wrong with my pineapple sage?
about a year ago I was given a pineapple sage plant. I cloned this plant several times and moved them all out side into gallon size pots, in an area where they get a majority of shade but a good amount of sun. one by one the leaves of some of the plants (not all) have started yellowing, especially around the veins. Next they wilt a little and the leaves start dying on the edges and then completely until hole sides of the plant are dead. we have fertilized these plants with fertilizer that is guaranteed not to burn. I have no idea whats going on, please if you have any idea what's wrong let me know :)

Also I think they need a lot of misting, especially if kept outside during the summer months. Try to mist 2X daily to keep the foliage cool.

i assume you are referring to removing unwanted spirits from your home? if so, burn the sage and walk room to room saying a prayer. make sure you also burn outside around the house and on your property. they tend to hide outside too. or are you trying to get rid of bugs? good luck

its not sage that is used to dye hair it is henna, made from the dark laurel leaves.

Sage colors can be considered a neutral so you can do pretty much what you would like with your color scheme. I had my entire interior painted in three shades of sage and every color popped against it. It was a major selling feature when we put our home up for sale and everyone commented on it.

Reply:Not much excitement going on with green and brown, but it is very soothing, like being in nature. I like how sage looks with natural unbleached linen. Get a light throw like that for summer. Just launder it frequently. For winter, a warm rich color like plum or burgandy or burnt orange makes it feel cozy. Also, black and sage always look great together, too. Browns come and go, but black is forever.

You could also try a tomatoe red to a red orange, to look really fun and playful. Deep yellow would also look nice. Or, you could pair it with navy/blue, for a matching with contrast look. Same with green. Just play with it, and look for pieces you love.
