I was also wondering if any type of sage plant can be used for healing and cleansing? I already know you can buy sage btw :).
Can I get a list of all the sage plants that grow naturally in the arizona sonoran desert?
you should check with a local home/garden center. I know that white sage does well in that area

What color trim and window treatments would go with tempered sage walls?
I am working on remodeling my kitchen and i am painting the walls a tempered sage (Light sage). I can not decide on the color for the trim or a color for the window treatments. Please help me!!
What color trim and window treatments would go with tempered sage walls?
a very dark brown, espresso or coffee bean color, looks great as the trim for sage green.
for window treatrments, Id go with tan, sand, or ecru colored roman blinds made of fabric or bamboo strips.
Reply:I would just do off white with some off white pull shades, and gauze or light weight lace curtains...if that is too "Yankee" for you, you could try to make the trim etc a related shade of sage....i.e. the same color but darker... it also depends upon the size of your kitchen and the color of the rest of the kitchen; the darker shade would make it closer, and the light would open it up
Reply:you can paint a white or off white, for the curtains i would pick up some of the sage. it doesn't have to be a dominant color in the window treatments but sage should be there. you want to be able to tie every thing together,

Has anyone a recipe for vegetarian sage derby cheese and apple pie?
I once had a recipe for a delicious pie made with cooking apples, sage derby cheese and walnuts. This was topped with a flaky pastry and when cooked served as a main course. It was excellent, but I have lost the recipe and don't know if I am missing ingredients or know the proportions of quantites. Anyone come across the recipe or similar?
Has anyone a recipe for vegetarian sage derby cheese and apple pie?
Apple %26amp; Lancashire Cheese Pie
A deep dish apple pie with cinnamon, maple syrup and sultanas, tossed with crumbled Lancashire cheese.
350g (12oz) short crust pastry
900g (2lb) cooking apples, peeled cored and cut into chunks
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
75g (3oz) sultanas
5 tablespoons maple syrup
150g (5oz) Lancashire cheese, crumbled
beaten egg to glaze
Preheat the oven to 400F/200C/Gas mark 6. Roll out the pastry on a lightly floured surface and use to line a deep 20cm (8in) pie dish or loose bottomed fluted flan case. Prick the bottom and chill whilst preparing the filling. Reserve pastry trimmings for the top of the pie.
Place the apples, cinnamon, sultanas and maple syrup in a pan. Cover and
cook over a gentle heat until apples just begin to soften. Remove from the heat and fold in the crumbled Lancashire cheese.
Spoon into pastry lined dish. Re roll the pastry trimmings and cut into strips about 1cm (1/2in) thick. Use these to form a lattice pattern on top of the pie and brush with beaten egg to glaze.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until pastry is golden and crisp.
Reply:Sage in an apple pie? I can't imagine.

What color paint goes with sage bedspread and mauve carpet?
I am looking to repaint my master bedroom and bath and need some help with paint colors. My carpet is mauve, my new comforter is sage green. What color do I paint the walls? That will be beautiful? Also what color window tratments should I get?
What color paint goes with sage bedspread and mauve carpet?
Consider:
Walls - ivory, white, paler mauve, or paler green than bedding
Windows: should be same color as bedding, walls, or carpet; or print of several of the colors [ could probably find a flowered one pretty easily ]
Buy paint AFTER you pick out window treatments - you'll have a better picture of how wall color will look.
Reply:Natural lighting plays a big part. If you have northern or southern lighting your paint color will remain true most of the day. Eastern or western light will intensify the color in the AM or PM, respectively. Northern exposure benefits from warmer colors, southern exposure can handle cooler colors.
Speaking for myself, I have solved the headache of picking paint colors by doing the following. I go to the paint store and pick out three colors that please my eye. It doesn't matter why you like the colors. All that matters is that you like them. If the colors are available in the sample bottles buy them that way. If not, get a quart of each color. Now, get a piece of posterboard and fold it in thrids. Paint each 1/3 of the posterboard with one of the paint colors. Cut them apart so that you have three separate paint samples you can hang on your wall. Use painter's tape to tape them onto your wall. You can move them around and see them in different light. You can take them off the wall and hold them against your bedding and carpeting to see how they will look. You can hold them up against paintings, etc you already own to see how the color will look. Once you are pleased with a color, buy it and paint your room. Especially the bedroom should be a room where you are happy. The colors should be colors that please you.
Personal preference: I adore Benjamin Moore's Georgetown Pink Beige. It is a warm color that looks like liquid make up. It is a marvelous neutral. I have it in three rooms of my house and it looks great in each one.
As for window treatments an interior decorator once pointed out to me that your bedroom is your little lair. No one else has to see it. Buy what appeals to your eye. If you want just matchstick shades, buy those. Fabulous elegant drapes, buy those. Look in magazines and discover what appeals to you.
I have rose colored sheers in my bedroom with my mauve carpet.
Reply:I think a softer mauve wall color and sage green window treatments would look really nice. Like the other person who answered a print of some kind on the windows would be nice. Also floral pictures of pinks and greens, such as roses would look nice on the walls too. You could also reverse the colors in the bath. Sage green walls and mauve towels and window treatments.
Reply:One of the better sources I've found online to help you out is at: http://www.sherwin-williams.com/pro/pain...
There you will find the color visualizer that will allow yourself to pick the color you want. It helps you by offering two compliment colors to teh one you've selcted. You could select the sage color to find a compliment, etc. Have fun.
Reply:Try going into glidden.com, its great. Allows you to paint a room exactly the color you looking for and you can see the room painted afterwards.
Reply:How about a warm neutral, like "curio gray" by sherwin williams?

As for window treatments, I love the look of wood blinds. Very classy for the bedroom:

What are the procedures for sending sage seeds (artemisia vulgaris) from New Zealand to Tonga?
I want to send sage seeds for private cultivation from New Zealand to Tonga. A friend of mine lives there and wants to grow some in her garden.
I am assuming now that Tonga and NZ are in the same biodiversity region of the world, and that sage is not an unwelcome plant in Tonga (if it is, I would really like to know, because I wouldn't send it then).
Does anyone know where to find out about these things?

I assume, that there is a Tongese foreign embassy in New Zeeland. Maybe you can call them and ask.
If anyone, they should be able to give you the information you need.
Good luck

What are some indigenous sacred sage plants in arizona?
I have been reading about using sage plants for healing and cleansing. I was wondering can you use any sage plant? Also what sage plants can I find in arizonas sonoran desert? If you could give me the name or a link to a picture I would appreciate it. When I take walks in the desert I want to keep my eye out for them. I know I can buy them, but I would rather just find one.

Go to the Internet with "sage as medicine." Good stuff there.

Gnocchi With Creamy Sage Sauce
A rich sauce covers gnocchi for a delicious and satisfying meal.
For the Sage Sauce:
3 Tbsp. Earth Balance margarine
1 tsp. chopped fresh sage
3/4 tsp. sea salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
For the Gnocchi:
1 lb. white potatoes, peeled and quartered
Sea salt, to taste
1 1/4 cups white flour
Sage leaves to garnish
For the Sage Sauce:
• In a small saucepan, melt the Earth Balance over medium heat. Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until golden brown.
• Remove from the heat and stir in the sage, the sea salt, and the black pepper. Set aside.
For the Gnocchi:
Cook the potatoes in boiling, salted water for 15 to 20 minutes, or until tender.
• Stir in a generous amount of the sea salt, drain, and mash until smooth. Transfer to a bowl.
• Sprinkle flour into the bowl with one hand while kneading into the potatoes with the other hand.
• Continue until all the flour is worked in and the dough is smooth. This will take a few minutes (the dough will be sticky at first). Divide into 3 pieces.
• Form each piece into a 1- to 2-inch-thick roll. Cut into 1-inch-long pieces and roll against a fork. Repeat with the remaining dough.
• Drop each gnocchi into heavily salted, boiling water. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until rising to the surface.
• Remove from the water, drain well, and transfer to a warm plate.
• Toss with the Sage Sauce and garnish with the sage leaves.

Ingredients:
For the sage butter
100g/3½oz butter, softened
12 fresh sage leaves
4 tsp wholegrain mustard
salt and freshly ground black pepper
For the stuffed chicken
4 chicken breasts
8 slices of prosciutto
1 tsp olive oil
For the sauce
125ml/4½fl oz white wine
1 garlic clove
1 fresh sage leaf
salt and freshly ground black pepper
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 170C/340F/Gas 3.
2. Make the sage butter. Chop the sage leaves finely.
3. Place the butter in a bowl, add the chopped sage leaves, mustard, and season, to taste, with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Mix together well.
4. For the chicken, using a sharp knife, slice into the side of each chicken breast to form a pocket.
5. Spoon a quarter of the butter mixture into each pocket and fold to enclose. If you have any of the flavoured butter left over you can roll it into a sausage shape, freeze and use (within a month) in another dish.
6. Place two prosciutto slices on a clean board so that they overlap slightly. Wrap one of the chicken breasts in the slices and roll to enclose. Repeat with the remaining prosciutto slices and chicken breasts.
7. Heat the olive oil in a heavy-bottomed frying pan. When hot, add the wrapped chicken breasts.
8. Cook over a medium heat until the prosciutto is lightly golden, about two minutes.
9. Turn the breasts over and brown the other side for another two minutes.
Served with mashed potatoes.
