My friend is pregnant with twin girls and wants to name them Melody Sage and Harmony Jade?

Reply:Normally i don't go for the matching twin names but honestly i think this is a really cute idea. They are different names but with a "theme" and they are beautiful names.

Reply:Melody seems very dated to me; it was popular briefly in the early 80s (my first My Little Pony was named Melody, and then there was Melody from the Nickelodeon show "Hey Dude"). I think there's also the problem that in music the melody is dominant, and the harmony must support it; do you really want your kids coming into the world pre-ranked? In addition, Melody has the easy nickname of Mel, but what do you call little Harmony? Harmony on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" was called Harm, but. . . she was a vampire.





Sage is kind of nice, but Jade, unfortunately, is going to sound just as dated as Doris, Jennifer, Sydney, Trinity, Darlene. .. any other name that was trendy briefly. A rule of thumb for baby names: the more expensive the item you name your baby after, the less likely it sounds that they will ever be able to afford it.
