hi can you make up stuffing the night before and keep in fridge then stuff turkey in morning
Can you make sage %26amp;onion stuffing the night befor?
Yes, it is even better. It gives the spices time to soak in. Just be careful that it is not too cold when you stuff the turkey, or it may not cook enough to make it safe. Turkey stuffing is generally not recommended for health reasons anyway. It is safer to cook the stuffing in a separate pan.
Reply:some spices need some time to let there full flavor out. just be aware.
Reply:Ours was made over a week ago and frozen. It is no longer considered a healthy thing to do - stuffing a turkey, it is better to cook stuffings seperately. Just place an apple on the inside of the bird to keep it moist.
Reply:Absolutely can. Just be sure to refrigerate your stuffing and do not put any eggs into it. You seem to already know not to stuff that turkey in advance. Better yet, don't stuff the turkey at all. Cook the "stuffing" in a crock pot on Low for 3-4 hours or High for half that. Your turkey will cook faster and your stuffing will be thoroughly cooked without drying out your turkey.
Reply:yes prep it first then cook it on the day I think beccamp is spot on.
Reply:Absolutely!
However make sure to very loosely stuff the turkey, no more than 1/2 full if at all.
Most recipes, especially older recipies call for "stuffing" poultry with some herb, but discarding it afterwards.
The issue is that stuffing the cavity slows the internal heating, allowing very good conditions for salmonella to develop.
That being said, very few internal stuffings ever result in people getting sick (unless it's from plain overeating!).
Good luck %26amp; happy Christmas!
Reply:you can do a lot of prep tonight peal the veggies leave them in cold water but refresh tomorrow yes you can also do the stuffing
Reply:It is not wise to stuff the turkey. Period. Too many bugs.
Reply:Yes it is possible, I would make it with a bit more water than instructed as when it cools it will "stiffen" up a bit. When cooking the turkey remember to weigh the turkey WITH the stuffing to calculate the correct cooking time thus ensuring the stuffing and inner turkey is thoroughly cooked.
