Do sage plants multiply?

I want to plant a few near evergreen trees but don't want them to outgrow the area where they are being planted.

Do sage plants multiply?
My sage plant is about 16 years old and currently is about 3 feet in diameter. Since we rent, it has made it through 5 moves and has done better every year. If you find that it outgrows the area that you want to plant it in, you should have no problem moving it in the future.

I've only had one seedling start from dropped seed. You can usually prevent self-seeding by cutting back the flower stalks after the plant blooms. (My plant took 6 years before it bloomed, but that may not always be the case. The first few years I was collecting a lot of the leaves for drying, and that may have prevented flowering)
Reply:My sage plant has stayed in one spot for years. It doesn't seed and produce multiple babies, but just grows woody. In fact, I have dug it out this spring and bought a new one.
