Can white sage (salvia apiana) be grown in the Midwest? Specifically can it be grown in Ohio?

It is native to California from what I have read.

It won't be able to take the winters here - which is why you don't see it around. It's good to about 15F. Lower than that, and it bites the dust. With protection - it *might* survive the really mild winters...
